Santa Fe Snowstorm

Number One 30” x 20” acrylic on canvas

I moved from New Orleans to Santa Fe in the summer of 1973. I abandoned Laissez Les Bon Temp Rouler to envelop The Land of Enchantment. It snowed a record 52 days during my first winter in New Mexico. The snow swirled around me in constant blizzard conditions. I summoned the dizzying forces of the wind and snow and the turquoise sky and red desert sands to create the seven panels of this expressionist painting. Living in Santa Fe and Abiquiu in the 1970s was one of the unique treasures of my life journey.
